At Liquify, we worked closely with Revital to launch their UK CBD product site that caters to an increasingly digital market. The CBD & Cannabinoid Industry Association reported that sales for physical (brock & mortar) stores went down after the pandemic, but online sales increased multiple times.
The overall CBD industry will continue to evolve and grow in the online space, which is where we come in as ecommerce & SEO experts. To help position Revital as a leading UK retailer of health and supplement products enter the CBD market.
Since the world’s perception of cannabis products is changing due to new information about the plant and its constituent compounds and chemicals, the CBD market alone is expected to grow to $4268.3 million by the end of 2026. That is a significant jump given that in 2020, it stood at a little over $553 million.
Developing an online presence is essential for any business selling CBD products. Given that these products have only recently been deemed legal, the regulations surrounding how they are sold and advertised require the business and its website developer(s) to be aware of the best practices. That way, the website can conform to guidelines and pull in the kind of traffic needed to grow the business. There are a number of complications when selling CBD products both in the UK and abroad. Many payment gateways won’t work with sites selling CBD, many advertising channels are simply not available – and this is especially problematic when you have an established online retail presence.
Working with Revital, we created a separate microsite site for its UK CBD products. Here are some of the highlights of the process.
Platform choice for CBD
Our primary expertise is in Shopify, a dynamic platform that gives merchants and store visitors an experience they can both enjoy. Choosing the right platform for the UK Revital CBD shop directly affects its online performance, accessibility, design, and user experience, driven by Shopify’s extensive tooling, features, and integrations. Revital also power their main online store via Shopify and so connecting the two together to sync up stock and orders was somewhat less problematic this way.
As an established health business in the UK high street, Revital has a brand already. When you open a well-designed site, such as one that sells clothing only, there is always a distinctive style that clues visitors in on what they may find. For Revital, our design challenge lay in making an experience a which was cohesive & unified with the main store.
Revital CBD can process payments via VivaWallet – the only Shopify supported gateway which would process orders with CBD products. Payment gateways aren’t so keen on CBD yet and finding the right one can be a lot of work. CBD is still considered risky by most businesses.
CBD Products for Sale in the UK
Revital CBD offer the following UK CBD products for sale on the new CBD store: CBD Oil, CBD Capsules, CDB Patches, CBD Tinctures, CBD Powders, CBD Sleep Drops, CBD Balms and soon hope to be offering CBD Gummies and other edibles.
Selling CBD online in the UK and other countries comes with many advertising restrictions. Google & Facebook being the primary two restricting advertising completely on CBD products. Companies selling non CBD products cannot risk advertising CBD on landing pages for they will likely face a complete ban. This leaves most CBD companies relying on SEO and cross marketing to existing audiences e.g. via email.
At Liquify we helped Revital plan their new SEO strategy for the CBD site and implement the content and link placements which will be key to the success of the site.
