In this guide we discuss how to set up a Shopify Facebook Store/Shop.

The success of any Shopify store largely depends on how convenient it is for customers to access the site and the quality of the acquired traffic. So it makes sense that online retailers would make themselves known on the social media giants – with Facebook being the number 1 social channel in the world.

If a customer likes your product, they are more likely to share with their friends, tag the store in the product and take pictures galore! Voila, free advertising. The more it is shared, liked and engaged with, particularly in their networks, the more likely you are to build your presence and potential pool of customers.

Getting a Shopify Facebook store makes sense because it is the largest social media platform in the world and therefore boasts the most potential exposure. Your Shopify Facebook shop can harness the potential of the 2.13 billion active monthly Facebook users, and with proper marketing you can get the chance to be seen by over a billion active mobile users on a daily basis.  You can easily target your marketing to specific audiences due to the sheer volume of data available about Facebook users.

So, if you want to leverage this for your Shopify store/shop, here are the steps on how you can setup your Facebook store to start bringing in the money.

Step 1 – Create a Shopify Store

This process is super simple – just go here and sign up for a 14 day trial with Shopify. If you are not sure about what to do, Shopify also has a comprehensive array of blogs, guides, and other material that can help you tweak your site. With Shopify, you can make use of the Shopify App store to find plug-ins or apps from expert developers to help manage your site. What’s better is that your main Shopify store can be used to manage the products that you sell in other sales platforms like your Shopify Facebook shop once you’re all set up.

Step 2 – Create Some Products

Your Shopify Facebook shop won’t start making money unless you’ve got something to sell. Create products in the Shopify platform first so you can add them later in other platforms, and you can do this by uploading the product information, the more detailed the better, and the corresponding images.

You can edit everything from the “Products page” of your Shopify admin account (whether you’re on mobile or desktop) and the products that you manage on this page will be available on all of the online stores you have previously connected to shopify. Step 3 – Add and Set Up the Facebook Sales Channel

To set up your Facebook sales channel, you need to do three things:

1. Check if you are eligible to sell on Facebook
2. Create a dedicated page for your business
3. Agree to the policies and selling standards set by Facebook

The process to add the sales channel is simple and can be done on your Shopify dashboard. All you need to do is:

Click the plus (+) button beside the “Sales Channel” heading > choose Facebook from the list in the Add Sales channel dialog that pops up > click Add to bring you to the prompt where you need to connect your personal Facebook account.

From here, you will choose and connect the business page you want to set up as the Shopify Facebook shop once you’re logged in. It will take around 48 hours for Facebook to review and approve/disallow your page.

Once you have your first product available in Facebook, you’ll be able to see the shop appear on your Facebook page.

Step 4 – Review Facebook Sales Policy

Since you are going across platforms, it would be helpful for you to be aware of the policies on Facebook. As a social media platform they enforce strict community standards when selling through them so there could be items you can’t sell on Facebook that you may be able to on others, so always ensure you are aware of prohibited or restricted products.

Facebook will also hold sellers liable to their policies if you use Facebook Checkout as the method of payment, so if you would prefer to only have your sales policies in place, you’ll need to enable Shopify checkout as your default for your Shopify Facebook store.

Most people who want to set up a Shopify Facebook shop usually have a Facebook page already set up as a store, but Shopify strongly suggests that you create a test page on Facebook first for your sales channel. This is because the Shopify Facebook store will override all that you have on your existing Facebook shop and replace it with your existing Shopify products which may not have the results you are looking for.

Step 5 – Add your Facebook Tracking Pixel

Adding a Facebook tracking pixel to Shopify is the final step and should be completed once everything else is ready including your ads on Facebook.  The tracking pixel will enable you to track the sales of products attributed to Shopify store sales.

Can Anyone Create a Shopify Facebook Store?

Simply, no.

There are certain eligibility requirements that need to be met such as:
You can only use currencies that are supported by Facebook
Your Shopify Facebook store currency should be set with your main currency (although this is recommended rather than an eligibility criteria).
You must have your own business page on Facebook
You need to provide a valid email for your customers to contact

Shopify Facebook store demo videos can show you how to set your email or currency via the general settings on your page.
