In addition to guides and a help center, the Shopify forums are a popular and vital part of the Shopify community. On the Shopify eCommerce Forum, you can discuss various topics with other members, get advice on commerce, discuss ideas, or request feedback about your store.
What Are The Shopify Forums?
The Shopify forums offer a place where Shopify users and merchants can discuss anything related to eCommerce. The forum is divided into several segments, providing users with easy navigation to find the right part of the forum:
- Community News – Here you will find news, announcements, and community guidelines for Shopify Merchants.
- eCommerce Discussion – From building a business to feedback, marketing, payments, fulfillment, taxes, and much more. This is the main section you need if you’re new to online selling altogether.
- Shopify Discussion – A Shopify-focused section, separated into areas about new apps, general discussion, design, APIs, Shopify POS, and more.
- General Discussion – This features topics about entrepreneurship and off-topic discussions for store owners.
You can use the Shopify eCommerce forum to get help with an issue you might be having or search already existing topics for an issue you are experiencing. It’s also an excellent place to learn new things you didn’t know you could do with your Shopify store, as well as find others to talk to. With so many users, it’s very common to find a topic where an issue was already posted, discussed, and solved, saving you from going through the whole support process.
How To Register For The Shopify Forums
To become a member of the Shopify forums, first you will need to access the main drop-down menu and then select Resources > Forums. Then, search for the REGISTER sign in the uppermost-right corner and click it.
- A registration form will appear, prompting you to enter your email address, display name, your website (optional), password, and confirm your password.
- After entering all the information and typing in the captcha code, click Create account.
- Open your email inbox (from the email you entered) and find the confirmation email.
- Activate your account by clicking the link in the email. You will be taken back to the forums, where you can now log in.
How To Login To The Shopify Forums
To connect your store to the Shopify eCommerce forum, simply:
- Go to the Shopify discussion forums and click LOGIN in the upper-right corner.
- Enter your store’s URL in the Shopify users section and click Login.
- Enter your email and password in the University users section and click Login.
Your store and forum account are now connected, and you can use your store to log in to forums in the future. Saving you time and effort and keeping everything in the same place.
Making A Post In The Shopify Forums
If you want to join a discussion on a specific topic on the Shopify forums, click the Reply button at the end of the post. The Shopify eCommerce forum post editor will appear, allowing you to:
- Use bold or italics
- Use numbered and bulleted lists
- Quote other member’s replies
- Add links, images and code blocks
- Edit the post in HTML
To get updates when others reply to a thread, simply tick the Email me when other people contribute to this thread checkbox located above the Post button.
Can’t Get Access To Your Shopify Forums Account?
Forgotten Password
If you can’t remember your Shopify forums password, you can reset it in a few quick steps.
- Go to the Shopify discussion forums and click LOGIN in the upper-right corner.
- Under University users, click on I don’t have my password.
- A prompt will appear where you will have to enter your password.
- After you enter it, click Send, go to your email inbox, and follow the instructions to reset your password.
It’s important that you do NOT use the same password for your Shopify store and Shopify eCommerce forum. Even though the two accounts are related, they are still two separate accounts and should be treated as such for security purposes.

If you can’t remember the associated email, and didn’t connect the forums to your store login, you’ll have to contact Shopify support.
